4BR has been informed of the death of the popular bandsman Ray Cole, who passed away on the evening of January 2nd 2012.

Ray had recently helped form Jayesse Newbiggin Brass Band, although the banding community in the North East of England will have known him as a respected principal cornet player of Northumbria Police Band, Cowpen & Crofton, Gateshead Brass, Felling, Craghead Colliery Band and City of Coventry.
