After recently testing the Trevor James Renaissance brass range, members of the band in the hit West End show 'War Horse' have confirmed that they are playing the range of instruments both on and off stage.
Instruments
The amazing 'War Horse' score by Adrian Sutton, with songs by John Tams, uses a five piece band comprising of two trumpets doubling cornets and bugles, French horn doubling tenor horn, trombone doubling euphonium and clarinet.
These are used in conjunction with pre-recorded string and percussion tracks to create a powerful, at times filmic score full of poignancy and stirring music.
During the show the band play the score from a purpose built studio backstage but are also required to perform on stage during several scenes.
Chosen instruments
The instruments the band has chosen for the production are the CT4500SP cornet, the CT6500SP cornet, the AH5500SP tenor horn and the EU7500SP euphonium.

Spielberg
'War Horse' is a spectacular production based on the celebrated novel by Michael Morpurgo. The First World War is the backdrop for this tale about the extraordinary bond between a young recruit and his horse.
After recently seeing the Show at The New London theatre Steven Spielberg told the London Evening Standard, "...that seeing the show had spurred him to make his first film since 2008.”
Grabbed me
Spielberg said: "War Horse grabbed me, reached into my heart and pulled something out of it that made me want to make it now, not a year from now or five years from now. I fast tracked the movie because I was so moved by the book and play. I just couldn’t imagine waiting any longer so I made it very quickly."
War Horse will be released in the US on Christmas Day and on January 13th 2012 in cinemas throughout the UK.
