New launch at Burry Port

Welsh band set to launch first building blocks to vibrant future.

Burry Port

The Burry Port Town Band will launch their first Solo & Ensemble Contest Day next year, as the band hopes to build on their far reaching plans for future musical prosperity.

Younger performers

The event will be held on 4th February at the Memorial Hall, Burry Port, with Solo, Duet, Trio and Ensemble Classes, aimed not just at younger performers, but also more experienced players too from all over South Wales.

We are looking towards the future at Burry Port and making a long term investment in the development of young playersMichael Thorne

Looking forward

Burry Port’s Musical Director, Michael Thorne told 4BR: "We are looking towards the future at Burry Port and making a long term investment in the development of young players.

We want that to spread into the wider banding community and give youngsters a new and exciting platform on which to perform. The musical benefits are obvious, but so too the social and educational ones."

Entry forms

Geraint Thomas, the Band's co-ordinator of the event added: "Entry forms are now available from the band's website at www.burryporttownband.co.uk and we will be announcing shortly the adjudicators that we've engaged to support this exciting new event."
