The Cawston Band recently celebrated its 125th anniversary with a packed concert in their local church.

Music and memories

The evening was filled with excellent music making and plenty of memories of a band that has served its community with pride.

Solo contributions came from players Mark Peck on Eb Bass, and principal cornet Richard Wilson, and during the interval complementary drinks helped the evening flow in a relaxed manner.

90 year old

Many past members came to enjoy the event, including 90 year old, Mrs Right who played cornet in the band over 70 years ago, and Sylvia Cox who played trombone over 60 years ago.

Presentations

A number of presentations were made before a highly enjoyable evening was rounded off with a rousing performance of ‘Hymn of the Highlands’
