Camborne Town Band is to be featured on the Cornwall edition of ITV's 'Ade in Britain' programme later this week.
Metal work
The show will be aired at 4.00pm on Tuesday 15th of November, where actor and comedian Ade Edmondson will be exploring the region’s historic metal working links.
Camborne’s Tony Mansell told 4BR: "ITV contacted us to take part in the programme and we recorded our part in July at the King Edward Mining Museum at Troon near Camborne."
He then picks up the baton and conducts the band itself – better than you might expect as he mischievously racks up the tempo!Tony Mansell
Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band
Edmondson's cheesy opening line may be: "Cornwall may have less tin now but it still has plenty of brass", but he revealed to Tony that he knows more about brass bands than most television stars, as he has been playing baritone in the revived Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band.
Tony added: "During the programme he cooks a traditional starry-gazey pie in the back of his chuck wagon before taking the time to chat to MD Kevin Mackenzie. He then picks up the baton and conducts the band itself – better than you might expect as he mischievously racks up the tempo!"
Great bloke
The former ‘Young Ones’ and ‘Bottom’ star was a delight to work with too. “What a great bloke,” Tony said. “He was easy to get on with as were the seven or eight members of the crew and he even asked for some pictures of the band to be sent to him after we finished recording.”
