The Leyland Band is set to make an emotional return home following the news that after years of nomadic bandroom tenures they will settle into permanent rehearsal surroundings back in the South Ribble Borough area.
New facility
After working closely with South Ribble Council, the band has been found a new rehearsal facility on the local Moss Side Industrial Estate.
At the council’s November planning committee, the green light was given to convert an empty industrial unit into a fully-soundproofed rehearsal room. The move will enable to band to play a more active role in community events and civic functions.
Suitable base
South Ribble Borough Council, Councillor Margaret Smith told 4BR: "Leyland and South Ribble should be very proud of the association with the band. We were very keen to help them find a suitable base.
I’m delighted for Chairman Allan Littlemore and the rest of the band, who have worked extremely hard with us to make this happen. I wish them continued success and every happiness in their new home."
We will do everything we can to be a good neighbour, and look forward to entertaining the people of the borough and becoming a full part of the South Ribble community againAllan Littlemore
Over the moon
Allan Littlemore added: "I’m absolutely over the moon, and overwhelmed by the sheer number of well-wishes and congratulations we’ve received in the short time since our planning application was successful.
We will do everything we can to be a good neighbour, and look forward to entertaining the people of the borough and becoming a full part of the South Ribble community again."
Help
He added: "I’m very grateful for all the help we received from South Ribble Borough Council. I became such a regular visitor that I now know the way to the Civic Centre better than the route to my local pub!”
