Friday night is Brass Factor night

Everything is in place for this year's Brass Factor which will take place at Holmfirth Picturedrome this Friday evening.

Six bands from Yorkshire are set to do battle this Friday evening, 11th November, at the Holmfirth Picturedrome in a brass band event modelled along the lines of television's popular 'X Factor' programme.

Brainchild

The highly successful event first took place a year ago, and is the brainchid of Alex Bray who plays with Hade Edge Band.

This year, Dinnington Colliery, Hade Edge, Hade Edge Juniors, Slaithwaite, Skelmathorpe 'B' and Yorkshire Traction Honley will perform a 20-minute entertainment programme that will hopefully impress both the hard to please judges and the packed audience.

Six bands from Yorkshire will do battle in an X Factor style contest with both the judges and audience having a vote4BR

Entertainment

Speaking to 4BR, organiser, Alex Bray said the night is all about one thing.

"It's entertainment for everybody to enjoy," he said. "I'm really looking forward to see what the bands come up with."

Friday will also be a night to remember some stalwarts who've passed away over the past twelve months as Alex explained. "The event is dedicated to Edgar Dickinson, Trevor Storer and Carlton Mellor who were all actively involved in local banding."

Gillam and Wadsworth

Leading the judging panel will be the former Black Dyke duo of John Gillam and Kevin Wadsworth who will be joined by John Hammond and the host of BBC Radio Leeds' 'Yorkshire Brass', David Hoyle.

The judges won't have the overall say though, as the audience will get the opportunity to vote.

4BR understands that the local MP, Jason McCartney and former Huddersfield Giants and Bradford Bulls rugby league player, Robbie Paul are planning to attend.

7.00pm start

The contest gets underway at 7.00pm at Holmfirth Picturedrome and tickets costing £10 can be purchased from Andrew's Greengrocers in Holmfirth (01484 682787) and further details can be obtained at brassfactor@gmail.com
