Judges announced for Radio 2 Young Brass Awards

The panel of judges who will pick the Radio 2 Young Brass Award winners has been announced.

 

Radio 2 has announced the panel that will be selecting recipients of the 2102 Young Brass Awards.

Three categories

The three categories of Youth Band of the Year, Under 18 Soloist of the Year and Soloist of the Year aged 18 to under 21 will be chosen by Richard Evans, Katrina Marzella, Kenneth Crookston, Paul Hindmarsh and Simon Dobson

Their decision will announced by Frank Renton on Radio 2’s Listen to Band on November 30th.

Performances

As part of the Award the selected musicians in each category will perform at The Royal Northern College of Music’s Festival of Brass on January 29th in a special broadcast concert that celebrates the talents of young brass players, composers and conductors.

During the concert, members of the panel will select the overall recipient of the Radio 2 Young Brass Award 2012, who will then be offered the opportunity to perform in a future broadcast4BR

The concert will be presented by Frank Renton and Simone Rebello and will be heard on Radio 2 during March 2012.
