Uni places up for grabs

The doors are open for bands to enter the popular UniBrass competition.

The entertaining UniBrass 2012 competition is just a few months away.

Opening date

The opening date for bands who wish to enter the event in February 2012 is October 31st, when application forms will be available on the unibrass website ( www.unibrass.co.uk).

The competition is open to all UK university brass bands, with no need for individual player registration.

Limit

Due to the growing popularity of the event, which attracted a wonderfully vibrant audience last year, there is a limit of 14 bands for 2012, on a first come, first served basis.

The closing date for entries will be 2nd December — so make sure you get them in quick!

Closing date

31st October also marks the close of the UniBrass Composition Competition.

The organisers are looking for a 10-15 minute composition which should be accessible for all University Bands, ideally aimed at a Third Section standard.

Lots of interest

A spokesperson told 4BR: "There has already been lots of interest, but we are still looking for more entries to be premiered at the 2012 event. That takes place on Saturday 18th February at the UniBrass competition at Lancaster University before the results of the main competition are announced."

Prize money

The winner will receive £2000 prize money, and Devilish Publishers will publish the composition.

The competition closing date is 31st October 2011 at 5.00pm, and entrants must be 25 or under on this date.
