Tait support for Alzheimer's Society

19 year old student set to help Alzheimer's Society with concert undertaking.

19 year old Philip Tait, who is a student at Birmingham Conservatoire, has turned his hand to becoming a fledging concert promoter as well as professional musician.

Daunting

Philip has untaken the daunting task of promoting a concert in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society, which will include the combined talents of a youth, senior band, soloist, ensemble and choristers.

Imagination

The forthcoming 'Festival of Youth Brass and Voices' has already caught the imagination of the local press with Zoe Thomas, Community Fundraiser North East for the Alzheimer’s Society telling 4BR:

"This has been an incredible undertaking from someone so young. Philip has put so much into this event and the Alzheimer’s Society very much appreciates the hard work and effort for what should be a great evening’s entertainment for a very worthy cause."

Combined talents

The concert involves the combined bands of Houghton Area Youth Band, who are busy preparing for the forthcoming youth championships, and the NASUWT Concert Band, who recently gave a very credible account of themselves at the recent National Finals in Cheltenham, the Chorister School Choir, from Phillip's old school in Durham and Grimethorpe flugel star Andy Holmes.

The concert is for a charity that I believe does remarkable work for an illness that still remains not fully understoodPhilip Tait

Running around

And despite all the running around and organising, Philip will even have time to play himself, in a small ensemble with his father, Bryan, the well known cornet player, who will be conducting on the night.

Philip told 4BR: "The concert is for a charity that I believe does remarkable work for an illness that still remains not fully understood. It’s been hard work, but so rewarding. I hope as many people come along and support it as possible."

Details

The concert, which includes refreshments and a raffle, will be taking place at Elvet Methodist Church, Old Elvet, Durham on Friday 21st October commencing at 7pm.

Tickets are priced at £7 and £5 for concessions are available:
