This weekend over 50 brass players from eight Midlands bands will converge on the Methodist Central Hall in Warwick Lane, Coventry this Friday to pay tribute to the late Chris Holmes, a talented and dedicated player well known to many local bands who lost his brave battle with bowel cancer earlier this year.
Hospice funds
Conducted by Steve Cooper and Adrian Raven the massed concert will include a range of popular repertoire with all proceeds from ticket sales going to Myton Hospices.
40 years
Speaking to 4BR Chris's twin brother Steve, a member of Bedworth Brass commented: "Chris played for bands including Coventry Festival, Ratby and Ratby Mid for over 40 years until his untimely death aged 54. Even through the seven years he battled cancer he continued to play, even taking a group of players to the cancer ward in his local hospital."

Brilliant care
He added: "The care he received in Myton Hospice during his last days was second to none, and it was here that he married his partner Gailyn the day before he passed away. The running of Myton Hospice is 85% charity based and the idea is to raise £5000 in what is to be a celebration of Chris's life with every penny going to the Hospice".
