Hathern

The Hathern Band recently enjoyed the 'One' moment of television fame as they took part in the production of a forthcoming item for the BBCs popular early evening programme,'The One Show'.

The band was approached by the show's producers as they were filming in Leicester and Loughborough as part of their short 'Claim to Fame' series.

Thomas Cook

They were keen to look at the first sortie by Thomas Cook in 1841 who took his first fare paying customers on a train from Leicester to Loughborough accompanied by a brass band!

As the producers were looking to recreate the atmosphere of the time, Hathern was booked and the players stepped on board as the historic occasion was brought to life once more — with the band playing along under MD, Dave Newman.

Great time

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "A great time was had by all – we are waiting to see if we can spot David Newman, our Musical Director on any of the filming!"

The film is due to be broadcasted on the One Show Friday 7th October.
