Williams to lead St Helens

Anna Hughes Williams has been appointed the new MD at the St Helen's Youth Band.

St Helens Youth Band has announced the appointment of their new musical director, Anna Hughes Williams.

Extensive experience

Born in Wales, Anna's extensive top level playing career has seen her move from the Principality to become one of the most sought after players in Championship banding, with extended periods playing with the likes of Foden's, Desford and YBS Bands.

In 2008 she decided to take a step back from playing and concentrate on her new job as peripatetic teacher for Bolton and St Helens.

Delighted

Anna is delighted with her new appointment, as she told 4BR: "I'm very pleased to become the new MD of the St Helens Youth Band. They are a great bunch of hard working, dedicated and talented young musicians who enjoy making music and being part of an excellent youth organisation."

She added: "We are looking to the new challenges and exciting new ventures that the future brings. Hopefully our hard working ethos will bring success in the upcoming competitions."
