4BR Quiz: Cheltenham Saturday Quiz

We have a special Saturday National Finals Quiz – but you must be at Cheltenham to win the prize.

Standard

We have a very special Saturday National Finals Quiz, which can only be won by someone telling the 4BR Editor the right answer in person!

Live coverage

4BR will be providing everyone with our usual live coverage of both day’s of contesting, but to win the Saturday prize you will have to delve into the National Finals programme on sale at The Centaur Centre to come up with the answer.

Last week’s question

Last week’s tricky Cheltenham brainteaser certainly had you thinking for a while, but in the end plenty of you got the right answer.

The question was: "What links the winning conductors of the National First Section champions of 1994, the Second Section of 1992, the Third Section of 1985 and the Fourth Section of 1958 and 1965 — but only the once at a different contest?"

The answer was of course, James Scott (1994 with Northop), Robert Childs (1992 with City of Hull), David King (1985 with Swinton Concert Brass), Roy Newsome (1958 with Elland Silver) and Frank Renton (1965 with Guildford Silver) – and at present they have all only won the top section National Championship of Great Britain the once at the Royal Albert Hall.

The winner was Martin Stack who will be receiving a great prize of two cracking pieces written by composer Phil Lawrence – ‘A Day in the Life of a Knight’ and ‘A Slow Ride in a Static Machine’.
