The Leyland Band has announced that BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Musician of Year, Lewis Musson has accepted the position of solo euphonium with the North West band.

Lewis is currently studying in his fourth year at the Royal Northern College of Music and will take up his new position with immediate effect.
Leyland spokesperson John Doyle told 4BR: "The band is extremely excited about Lewis. He’s an outstanding player with a great attitude. Lewis makes his debut this weekend at Grimsby and is sure to impress audiences throughout the country with his brilliant playing."

Meanwhile, Lewis seemed excited at the prospect of joining Leyland following his two year spell with Wingates.
"I'm very excited to be joining the Leyland Band," he said. "They are a friendly bunch of people who have made me feel very welcome. I’m looking forward to working with some outstanding players and conductors, but I would like to thank everyone at Wingates for all their help and support over the past two years. I wish them all the best for the future."
