Torquay ready for 65th anniversary contest

Organisers are looking forward to a great day of contesting in Torquay next month.

Organisers have informed 4BR that everything is in place for the hosting of the 65th Anniversary South West Brass Band Association's Annual Championships to be held on Saturday 5th November at the Riviera International Conference Centre, Torquay.

Long but enjoyable

With a near record entry of 38 bands, adjudicators Peter Bassano and Brian Minear, together with contest controller Brian Elliott and his dedicated team of helpers, are ready for a long but enjoyable day of contesting.

The Championships will commence with the Fourth Section at 9.30am continuing through to about around 8.30pm.

The presentation of awards to the winning bands will be undertaken by Sue Richards, wife of the Association's late President, Goff Richards4BR

All day ticket will be available on the day priced £7 (with concessions).

July 3 • Haverhill Silver Band (championship section) seeks a PRINCIPAL CORNET. This is a superb opportunity to lead East Anglia's premier brass band on the concert and contest stage (including the Senior Cup and Whit Friday).

July 3 • Our COMMUNITY BAND meet fortnightly on a Monday morning (next rehearsal 7th) and we welcome any players who want an extra blow.. We require no allegiance just come and enjoy the friendly blow with coffee and cake thrown in.(Its all free)
