Lions Youth Brass recently enjoyed a successful and productive workshop with members of both Foden’s and Fairey (Geneva) Bands.

Summer break

The Lions, who had just had their summer break wanted to get things moving for the new term and what better way than under the direction of Foden’s players Nick Jackson, Andy Rolfe, Shaun Farrington and Matt Hindle, and the Fairey’s duo of Matthew White and Julie Meechan – all of who were playing at the British Open less than 24 hours previously.

The day started with Shaun Farrington taking the band through some warm up exercises before breaking into sections to work on a range of concert pieces.

Full rehearsal

After a much needed lunch, the bands Musical Director, Nigel Birch then led the full band through the pieces which had been worked on earlier in the day.

During a break in the rehearsal players were given the opportunity to ask their tutors a wide variety of questions.
