Launch of Breath of Souls study score and on-line recording

PLKC

After great interest, the study score of Paul Lovatt-Cooper's National finals piece ‘Breath of Souls’ is now available to buy from www.plcmusic.com at the price of £10.00.

Recording

Also, listeners will be able to hear the proof recording of the test piece recorded by Black Dyke for the preview performance of the work in July.

That performance took place at the presentation evening organised by MD Dr Nicholas Childs to provide an informed introduction to Paul’s new work.

Early insight

It also gave the assembled audience the opportunity to ask questions directly to the performers as well as the composer to gain an early insight into his new composition and especially its multiple-choice cadenzas with the help of some of the band’s principal players.

Paul held a talk and synopsis of his composition for the 100th National Championships which you can read about here: http://www.4barsrest.com/articles/2011/1248.asp

Benefit

Paul told 4BR: "Usually, when a new work is chosen for a contest, the adjudicators are provided with either a Midi or a Sibelius recording of the piece.

However, with Black Dyke not taking part this year, I was grateful they were able to record a run through of the piece for the benefit of the adjudicators so they could get to hear to hear the full timbres and colours that wouldn't be available to them with just a Midi/Sibelius version."

However, with Black Dyke not taking part this year, I was grateful they were able to record a run through of the piece for the benefit of the adjudicatorsPLC
