Having now fulfilled all his orchestral conducting commitments, North West conductor Brian Harper returns to banding after a four year absence with the announcement of his appointment as the new MD of Rivington & Adlington Band.

Band Secretary Matt Walker told 4BR: "Brian’s talent shone through from the first beat of the stick. His wide experience in the top flight of the brass band world will certainly be a fantastic asset to the band."

Brian added: "It’s great to be back, and I’m looking forward to working with such a nice bunch of people."
