There is a youthful spotlight being shone at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall this weekend.

There is sure to be plenty of great music to attract brass band lovers to Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall this Saturday, where a host of great entertainment is in store from a superb line up of performers.

Spotlight on Youth

With details already released by event organisers for the Gala Concert featuring Black Dyke, Foden’s and Brighouse & Rastrick, further details have been released concerning the ‘Spotlight on Youth’ and of the afternoon concerts to be given by Fairey (Geneva) and Leyland Bands.

Young talent

At 2.15pm, Dr. Nicholas Childs and the National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain will take the stage with Sheona White as their featured guest soloist, and will be followed onto the platform by the musical talent of the 100 or more young brass players from Smithy Bridge Primary, Littleborough Community Primary, St Andrews Primary, Kentmere Primary, St James Primary & Wardle Junior Bands under the direction of Lee Rigg and Gwen Smith.

Kick off

Leyland kick off the whole event at midday followed by the National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain at 2.15pm and Fairey (Geneva) at 4.15pm, who will feature a tribute to the compositional skills of Goff Richards in their programme under the direction of Mark Peacock.
