Wonderful women of Wonderbrass

Cornwall is to get its first all female brass band...

Wonderbrass

The female brass players of Cornwall have announced the formation of 'Wonderbrass'.

Idea

The initial idea to get together an 'All female' brass band in Cornwall, came about from Derek Greenwood. On mentioning the idea to some of the girls at St Austell Band, things quickly moved forward and Wonderbrass held it's first rehearsal under Derek in June.

Players

The band is made up of players from St Austell, Mount Charles, St Dennis, Bodmin, Camborne, Camborne Brass, St Pinnock, Redruth, Lostwithiel, and Heyl and we have been rehearsing every couple of weeks.

I’m truly amazed that it is so popular, with so many players wanting to join. I look forward to a long association with the band raising lots of money for charityMD, Derek Greenwood

Amazed

Derek told 4BR: "I’m truly amazed that it is so popular, with so many players wanting to join. I look forward to a long association with the band raising lots of money for charity."

The band’s first concert in October will be to help raise funds for a local charity, The Merlin Project, which helps people with Multiple Sclerosis.
