The 12th Exmouth Brass Band Festival, promoted and organised by the South West Brass Band Association has attracted member bands from Cornwall, Devon and Somerset to their 3rd September contest, with around 500 bandsmen expected to descending on Exmouth for a full day of contesting.
Contest and concert
Each band will compete in the Exmouth Pavilion for the Exmouth Town Council Challenge Trophy by presenting a 25-minute programme of own-choice music to the adjudicator, Melvin White.
Additionally, throughout the day, the same bands will entertain the general public with 30-minute concerts in the adjacent Pavilion Gardens.

SWBBA organiser Brian Elliott told 4BR: "This is a day to be enjoyed by all, and an opportunity for our bands to demonstrate the best in brass banding here in the South West."
The day’s events commence at 10.30am, concluding with the results and presentation ceremony at around 6.30pm, when the Mayor of Exmouth, Councillor Sandra Sutton, assisted by Bruce Taylor, Marketing & PR Manager, Countrywide South West Estate Agents, will present the trophies to the winning bands.

Brian added: "The Association is greatly indebted to the Exmouth Town Council and Countrywide South West Estate Agents for their generous support of the Festival, and to the East Devon District Council and management of The Pavilion for their logistical assistance in promoting the Festival."
Tickets to the Entertainment Contest are priced at £6 (concessions £5) available on the day.
