Salisbury City Band of the Royal British Legion’s first rehearsal was held recently under the baton of new MD, Roger Allsopp.

Training

After training at Kneller Hall Roger became bandmaster for several army bands and is recently retired. He is well-known locally as a woodwind teacher.

As an associate band of the Royal British Legion it is expected that players will become familiar with traditional military marches and a busy period to come will see the band encompass a wide range of musical styles.

A Community grant for £2,500 has been given to the band by Salisbury City Council to assist with the start-up costs and the band are now actively seeking members to fill their ranks4BR
