Dyke to honour conducting legends

Black Dyke to pay tribute to conducting legends at Bridgewater Hall.

Dr. Nicholas Childs and Black Dyke have released details of their programme for the Gala Concert of the forthcoming Great Northern Brass Arts Festival, which takes place at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on Saturday 10th September.

Legends

Black Dyke will perform the second half of the Gala Concert and will pay tribute to two of their conducting legends that have died in the past year.

Eric Ball’s iconic masterpiece, ‘Resurgam’ will be played to honour Major Peter Parkes and James Watson, as well as music from Peter Graham, Bert Bacharach and Modest Mussorgsky. The featured soloists will be Paul Duffy and Brett Baker.

Tickets:

Tickets are still available for the Gala Evening Concert (7.15pm) and all the daytime concerts on 0161 907 9000.

April 3 • We have vacancies for a trombone player and a bass player. Cleethorpes Band rehearse near the seafront on Thursday and Sunday evenings. Placed 3rd in the NOE 4th section. Other players are always welcome as we may be able to switch positions around
