4BR has been informed of the death of Major Terry Camsey, composer and former principal cornet of both the ISB and the New York Staff Band.
Huge respect
Regarded with huge respect throughout the Salvation and secular banding movements, he was regarded as a player of rare lyrical gifts. He passed away in California at 9:30 pm Pacific Time on Wednesday June 29th.
Raised in the Salvation Army based in the Cheltenham Corps he was a self-taught composer/arranger with over one hundred compositions published by The Salvation Army.

Soloist
He was a cornet soloist with such well known Salvation Army bands as Cambridge Heath, Upper Norwood, the International Staff Band, Hollywood Tabernacle and the New York Staff Band.
He became principal cornet soloist of HM Irish Guards and featured in many recordings and prestigious concert performances around the world.
In 1985, he became a Salvation Army officer specializing in the health and growth of churches.
Terry leaves a widow, Beryl and children Martin and Roz.
Funeral details
There is to be a private cremation with a public Celebration of Life at the Tustin Ranch Corps on Sunday July 17th at 2:00pm.
