Euphonium star David Thornton, recently gave the world premiere of a new work by composer Peter Meechan – and was Jet powered in the process.

The work, 'JET A' for euphonium and electronic accompaniment, was performed by him at a concert at Regent Hall in London with the Regent Hall Band and helped to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

900miles

Dave’s efforts though were dwarfed by the contribution made by ISB horn player Steve Hanover who cycled more than 900 miles from Inverness in north Scotland to central London, via Edinburgh, York, and Colchester in just two weeks to play in the concert, raising thousands of pounds for two worthwhile causes on the way.
