It’s the day of the English National Championships here in Preston, and there is a real air of expectancy about the place.

All the bands have arrived and are putting their last minute touches to their preparations, with the draw for the set work, ‘Elgar Variations’ taking place at 9.00am. The own choice pyrotechnics start at around 2.00pm.

Get off the M6, head for the famous bus station in the centre of town and you can’t miss it. There are tickets available, study scores, plenty of refreshments and a host of top class bands playing some great music.
