Bolsover District Council supported by Elmton with Creswell Parish Council is set to organise its first Brass Solo & Quartet Contest.
The event will take place at Creswell Social Centre, Elmton Rd, Creswell, Worksop on Sunday 18th September.
Hugely popular
Bolsover District Council commitment to the brass band genre has been seen by its promotion of the highly popular Bolsover Festival of Brass, which is due to take place this year on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September at Kissingate Leisure Centre Shirebrook and Mount St Mary’s College Spinkhill.
Over the last six years the Festival of Brass has become the largest brass band entertainment contest in the UK.
Further development
To further develop the event it has been decided to introduce a new element to the festival which will encourage up and coming new talent as well as provide a challenge for players locally and regionally.
Bolsover District Council in partnership with Elmton with Creswell Parish Council, formed a new Creswell Community Band 18 months ago, and it is anticipated that this contest will provide aspiration for the young players and a platform to display their talents.
We are delighted to have expanded our Festival to include Creswell. There has been a great deal of interest in the new Creswell Community Band and this will provide them with an ideal platform to showcase their talentsCarole Crompton
