Psyche for FABB

The Federation of Australasian Brass Bands announces the test piece for the 2011 Yamaha Australasian Open.

The Federation of Australasian Brass Bands (FABB) has announced the selection of 'Psyche' as the 2011 Yamaha Australasian Open Test Piece.

Composed in 2008 by Swiss composer Ludovic Neurohr as a commission from National Australia Brass Ltd, Psyche received its premiere at the Melbourne International Festival of Brass.

Ludo Neurohr studied composition with Professor Peter Graham at the University of Salford and completed his Masters degree in 2008. His ‘Spells of the Deep Forest’ commissioned by the Federation of Australasian Brass Bands was first performed at FABB in 2010.

Chairman of the Federation of Australasian Brass Bands, Rick Casagrande informed 4BRDU: “FABB are delighted to announce ‘Psyche’ as the selected test piece for 2011. Three years have elapsed since the premiere of this work in 2008 by Professor King and National Australia Brass and FABB are delighted to promote this exciting composition by Ludo Neurohr as part of the Federation’s new music policy”.

‘Psyche’ by Ludo Neurohr is published by Kirklees Music and will be available in Australia in July 2011.
