Nine bands set to line up for English Nationals

Nine bands have conformed their participation at the forthcoming English Nationals — and have made their own choice selections.

The British Federation of Brass Bands, have revealed the list of own choice selections to be played by the nine bands who have confirmed their attendance at the contest in Preston on 25th June.

Eclectic selections

With Martin Ellerby’s ‘Elgar Variations’ providing the set work for the event, there has been an eclectic selection of own choice pieces, as the bands strive to gain qualification for the European Championships in Rotterdam in 2012.

Judges

The panel of adjudicators will comprise Derek Broadbent, Ian Brownbill, Steve Sykes and Andrew Duncan. The contest will start at 10.00am, with the own-choice section beginning at 2.00pm.

The organisers have announced that Carlton Main Frickley Colliery has withdrawn from the event due to financial considerations.
