4BR has been informed that the 2012 New Zealand National Brass Band Championships have been relocated from Christchurch, the original venue, to nearby Timaru.
100 years
The 2012 event will take place from July 4th – 8th. It will be the first time in over 100 years that the oldest National Championships in the brass band world has taken place in Timaru.
Earthquake
BBANZ President, Dianne Smeehuyzen, informed all affiliated bands and members, explaining the reasons for the decision made by the National Management Committee following the destruction caused by the recent catastrophic earthquake to hit Christchurch.
