With the Grand Shield only days away, Butlins Champion, Flowers has made two signings in their attempt to secure their place at the British Open.

Following the departure of Phil Green, due to family and increasing work commitments, Andy Johnson signs from Desford.

Trombone
Meanwhile, John Baker who played principal trombone for Yeovil Band until recently and makes the long journey from Taunton to Gloucester for every rehearsal.
Sad loss
Unfortunately the band will be without flugel player Tim Malpas at Blackpool due to a family bereavement. The spokesperson added: "Tim's mother in law passed away unexpectedly last week and such is the loss that on this occasion banding takes second place. Our thoughts are with Tim and his family at this time."
The band has thanked Glen Philip, principal cornet of Abergavenny Band who has agreed to play flugel at the contest.
