Sad loss

Unfortunately the band will be without flugel player Tim Malpas at Blackpool due to a family bereavement. The spokesperson added: "Tim's mother in law passed away unexpectedly last week and such is the loss that on this occasion banding takes second place. Our thoughts are with Tim and his family at this time."

The band has thanked Glen Philip, principal cornet of Abergavenny Band who has agreed to play flugel at the contest.
