This year’s Black Dyke Brass Festival held at Leeds Town Hall this weekend will hope to create one of the biggest of sounds in recent times.
Massed bands
At the Festival’s Galal Concert on Sunday afternoon, the combined forces of Black Dyke, the Yorkshire Youth Band, Clifton & Lightcliffe, Delph, Hebden Bridge, Kirton and Sellers Youth hope to raise the roof of the famous Victorian building with the concert finale ‘Tchaikovsky’s ‘1812 Overture’.
Great end
Festival Administrator, Alison Childs told 4BR: “It promises to be a great end to a great day for brass enthusiasts from all over the UK.”

Biggest sound
Black Dyke’s Principal Conductor, Nicholas Childs added: "One of the favourite strands of the festival is the cornet spotlight, led by Richard Marshall, and the trombone workshops in combination with the British Trombone Society and Brett Baker, but there is no doubt where the biggest sound of brass will be coming from!"
