The talented young players who occupy the principal seats on the current National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain course have been announced.
Principals
The Principal Cornet and Leader is James Fountain of the Virtuosi GUS Band.
The soprano seat is taken by Ben Hirons, whilst Black Dyke’s Zoe Hancock and Jonathan Bates occupy the flugel and solo horn positions.
Steven Cavanagh and Nick Birch are on baritone and euphonium respectively, whilst Jonathan Hunt and James Blake take the principal tenor and bass trombone chairs. The tuba section if led by Joshua Flynn and Christopher Hardy on Eb and Bb tuba respectively whilst the third member of Black Dyke, Ashley Clegg leads the percussion section.

First appearances
No less than 20 young players are making their first appearance with the band this year, which is currently rehearsing at Harrogate Ladies College where they are joined by guest soloist Philip Cobb, Principal Trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra.
Concerts
They conclude their course with concerts on Friday 22nd April at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and Saturday 23rd April at The Dolphin Centre, Darlington.
