Susannah Downs and Rachel Neil, both members of the Exchange Communications Whitburn and National Youth Brass Band of Scotland, have been selected to represent their country in the European Youth Brass Band in Switzerland at the end of the month.
British contingent
They will be joining five other young British brass band players, three from England and two from Wales as part of the European Championship event in Montreux.
The band includes some of Europe's finest young brass band talent.
Cornet player Susannah is currently studying Law and Sociology at Strathclyde University, whilst horn player Rachel is an undergraduate student at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama

Honour
"It was an honour being picked for the EYBB," Rachel said. "I'm really excited to take part in such a great event and looking forward to meeting a lot of new people, and to work with some fantastic musicians. I can't wait!"
Hard work
Susannah added: "I think it will be hard work, but I am looking forward to it as well. So many of this years band have already been in touch with us both. They are an incredibly friendly bunch and I am looking forward to meeting and working with them."
