Northern Brass, a quintet made up of some of the leading young brass players in the country has won the prestigious Philip Jones ensemble competition at the Royal Northern College of Music.
The quintet is made up of 3rd and 4th year students and includes Lewis Musson, the current BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Soloist Champion as well as David Moore, the former flugel player with Brighouse & Rastrick, Katherine Curlett, Ben Millest and Georgi Boev
The group gave a scintillating performance of the Derek Bourgeois 'Sonata', followed by 'Two Worlds' which was arranged by Georgi, the group’s horn player and composer/arranger in residence.
