Foresters

Foresters Brass 2000 has announced the appointment of David Purkiss as its new Resident Conductor.

New team

David will work alongside the band’s Professional Musical Director, Peter Collins, to form what the band hopes is a young, dynamic team at the helm.

A graduate of the Birmingham Conservatoire, David has been a key member of several bands, including GUS, Pennine Brass, Fodens and the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army, where he played solo cornet for two years.

Looking forward

He is currently Assistant Director of Music at a secondary school, and told 4BR: "I’m looking forward to working with Foresters Brass 2000 at what is certainly a really exciting time. In the few weeks I have been involved, it is already clear they are a band with huge talent, and even greater potential."
