Menai Bridge enjoy royal spotlight

Menai Bridge Band may have to get used to being in the spotlight after the local royalty pay a visit.

Menai Bridge

The Menai Bridge Porthaethwy Band recently provided the musical entertainment for Prince William and Kate Middleton's first official public engagement.

RNLI

The band joined the couple, who have a home on the island, outside the RNLI Station in Trearddur Bay, Anglesey, prior to the official launch of the new Atlantic 85 lifeboat, ‘Hereford Endeavour’.

The band also led the singing of the National Anthems and hymns during the service of dedication, in which the Prince and Miss Middleton demonstrated how much Welsh they have learnt being based at nearby RAF Valley as a Search & Rescue helicopter pilot.

Media interest

The media interest in the event was huge with camera crews from all over the world, and the whole ceremony being broadcast live on 'Good Morning America'.

Prestigious

Musical Director, Chris Williams told 4BR: "The band have very close links with the Trearddur Bay RNLI. To be performing at such a prestigious and well publicised event and for Prince William and Miss Middleton made it even more special for everyone involved."
