Lofthouse masterclasses

Glyn Williams, Mark Wilkinson and Gareth Sykes have been putting the talented young players of Lofthouse Brass through their paces.

Lofthouse

The players of Lofthouse Brass were recently put through their paces in a workshop led by Foden’ss Mark Wilkinson and Glyn Williams ando Reg Vardy’s Gareth Sykes.

Five hour day

The five hour day of fun and music started at 10.00am when the band assembled and were split into three groups for sectionals. Mark tutored the cornet and horn sections, Glyn took the euphs, baritones and basses and the trombones were under the command of Gareth.

Different techniques

Players worked on different techniques with their sections with the overall aim of improving both individually and as a team.

At 3.00pm the session culminated with a rehearsal led by Glyn, where all they had learned during the day was out into practice.

The workshop was a great success and an excellent chance for the band to extract knowledge from some of the great players of today!MD, Andrew Whitaker

Great success

Musical Director Andrew Whitaker told 4BR: "The workshop was a great success and an excellent chance for the band to extract knowledge from some of the great players of today!"

Feedback from the players of Lofthouse was very positive and the players hope to work with the tutors again in the future.
