Exchange Communications Whitburn has announced its annual player awards for 2010, as well as the signing of two new players for the 2011 season.
Awards
The ‘Bandsperson of the Year’ was won by ever present Bb Tuba star Alan Gourlay, whilst principal cornet player Chris Bradley was presented with the ‘Player of the Year’ award.

Recruit
On the player front, Ray Munday has joined on assistant principal cornet. A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music, Ray was the first recipient of the Bernard Brown award in 1985.
He has freelanced in London and Scotland, playing with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra amongst others. In the 1990s, Ray also played with Whitburn and CWS Glasgow.
Cornet
Meanwhile, Richard Tobin has also joined on second cornet from Bo’ness & Carriden, where he played soprano.
At last year’s First Section National Championships in Harrogate, Richard won the ‘Best Instrumentalist’ prize and helped Bo’ness to a fourth place finish.
