STORM Brass has announced the appointment of Andrew Lomas as their new resident Musical Director
Freddie
Hailing originally from Cornwall, ‘Freddie’ as Andrew is popularly known, played violin with the Truro Youth Orchestra and the Cornish County Youth Orchestra before entering the Royal Marines in 1989, rising to become the present Bandmaster of the Royal Marines CTC Lympstone Band.
Experienced
Band Manager Ken Cassidy told 4BR: "We are pleased to be able to secure the services of such as an experienced conductor and band trainer, who also lives locally to the band and who has such a strong motivation to make STORM a success."
He added: "Freddie brings to the band a wealth of knowledge and we are looking forward to working with him as he prepares the band for the challenges of ‘Carnival Romain’ at the Regionals in Torquay."

New players
Joining the band in time for Torquay are two Cornish ex-pats – Adam Scott and Jo Powell.
Adam joins on solo cornet from Bugle Band and Jo takes up the position of solo horn after her transfer from Mount Charles.
The couple are both studying at Plymouth University and are to marry in July of this year. Jo was until recently principal horn of the NYBB and recently helped Grimethorpe in their recent concert in Plymouth.
