After a busy Christmas, the Lydbrook Band is now rehearsing for the forthcoming Welsh Miners Eisteddfod competition in Porthcawl and the West of England Area Contest in Torquay.

The band has welcomed three new players in the past couple of weeks, with Emily Dodsworth and Will Lane joining from the Rothwell Band and Mark Taylor from the South Yorkshire Police Band — all having relocated to the area with their employment.

Emily will take up the flugel seat with Debbie Galliott moving back to baritone. Will joins the already strong percussion team of Osian Griffiths, Andrew Manning and Andrew Brooks and Mark joins the tenor horn section with John Jemmett and Paula Ingleby.

Ian Holmes, the band’s principal conductor will direct the band at both events before a busy concert schedule for the spring and summer.
