We had a fantastic response to our January quiz – and a delighted winner too of the bundle of Prima Vista Musikk and Cory’s 125th anniversary book
Great response
4BR had a great response to our January, Cory Band inspired quiz with people from all over the banding world taking the time to send us their answers – the correct one being that Cory’s original name was the Ton Temperance Band.
It’s great to win such a fantastic prize. I’m sure the band will play the pieces in concerts and entertainment contests4BR Quiz winner, Martin Stack
Scottish winner
And the prize of the parts an scores to ‘King Solomon’s Mines’ by Rodney Newton, ‘Flame of Independence’ and ‘Moonbeams’ by Dan Price, ‘Mist of the Forest’ by Gareth Wood and ‘Constellations’ — as well as a copy of the Cory Band 125th anniversary book written by Dr Robert Childs went to Martin Stack who is a Bb tuba player with Clackmannan District Band in Scotland.
Martin was delighted that he had been picked out of the hat. He told 4BR that one of the main reasons why he entered was that he felt that his band would benefit from the pieces both on the concert and contests stages in 2011 – whilst as a fan of the band he wanted to find out a bit more about Cory’s rich history.
Fantastic prize
"It’s great to win such a fantastic prize," he said. "I’m sure the band will play the pieces in concerts and entertainment contests. I’m also a fan of Cory so finding out a bit more about them will keep me busy too."
4BR hopes to put up a pre regional contest quiz in the next week or so – with more great prizes up for grabs.
