Sheffield set to release old steel workings

The City of Sheffield Band is set to re-release some great old Stocksbridge recordings.

Stocksbridge

The City Of Sheffield Band (formerly Stocksbridge) have re-released three former recordings from the 1990s to celebrate 110 years of music making and the 15th anniversary of them appearing in the brilliantly successful UK film, ‘The Full Monty’.

Memories

The three recordings are soon to be reviewed on 4BR, will recall memories of a band that was ranked as high as the top five bands in the world and was filled with players of the calibre of Richard Marshall, Billy Rushworth, John Lee, Brian Winter, Martin Irwin and Greg Timmins

It’s great to be able to recall those days again thanks to these releasesJohn Lee

Historic snapshot

John Lee told 4BR: "The three recordings, ‘A Sheffield Welcome’ (recorded for the 1991 World Student Games held in Sheffield), ‘Quality Performance’ and ‘Heritage’ provide a welcome historic snapshot of a band that for a period was right at the top of the contesting tree. It’s great to be able to recall those days again thanks to these releases."

Glory days

At present the CDs can be bought directly from the band, but they hope that following a 4BR feature, former supporters, fans and players may well take the opportunity to reliving some real glory days.
