New principal at Bodmin

Mo Whitehead returns to Bodmin as their new principal cornet.

Bodmin

Bodmin Town Band has announced the signing of Mo Whitehead as their new principal cornet.

Return

Hard on the heels of securing Garry Lannie from St Dennis as their new MD, the band has announced the signing of Mo, who spent over 15 years with Bodmin on cornet and soprano in the late 80’s & 90’s.

She has recently spent successful periods playing with Camborne and most recently, the former Fourth Section National Champion, St Breward Band.

Signal

"We’re delighted to welcome a player of Mo’s talent to the principal chair," said Garry to 4BR. "She brings with her a wealth of experience of top level banding, and this is a signal to other players that the re-building process of Bodmin Town Band is going well!"

More signings

As well as welcoming Mo, the band has also strengthened the playing ranks with the signing of Kev Moore from St Breward on trombone and Nick Taylor on BBb Bass.

Band Chairman Ryun Retallack added: "It’s exactly 12 months since fire that ripped through our historic bandroom destroying everything we owned, but the rebuilding process has taken-off in the last few weeks and with Garry at the helm we are looking forward to a positive 2011."
