Euphonium performer Charley Brighton recently celebrated his 40th recital with accompanist Malcolm Stowell, organist and choir master of St. Mary’s Parish Church in Slough.
Malcolm has hosted Charley’s euphonium music programme since May 2001, and has helped bring the instrument and its music to a much wider public audience.
Personal tribute
The 40th recital featured the premiere of ‘Be Well’ by Terry Treherne, which was a personal tribute to the late American composer Joe Miserendino who died of cancer earlier this year. Joe wrote many lighter works for Charley, and also the major three-movement 'Willson Concertante', premiered in all three piano, wind and orchestral versions.

Vintage
During the recital Charley performed on four instruments from his vintage collection, including a 1920’s Boosey Solbron Euphonium, a 1980's Imperial model and a 1912 Hawkes 4 valve Cavalry Tuba.
