Dave goes apes!

A bandsman with a penchant for orang-utans. Now there's something you don't hear every day...

Cornet player and budding composer Dave Davidson is on a mission to find out more about the other love in his life (the first being his music) — Orang-utans.

Study

Dave has been studying the apes since childhood and is now planning an expedition to Borneo to see them in their natural habitat.

A life-long lover of apes, Dave told 4BR: "I have always been fascinated by orang-utans, there is something unique about them that sets them apart from other apes. They seem to dance their way through life without a care in the world.

I'm looking forward to this trip so much. Of course I’ve visited Orang-utans in zoos and such places many times before, but to see them in their natural habitat will be an amazing experience."

Dave has even composed a piece of music dedicated to his experiences so far with the creatures, entitled, 'Dance of the Orang-utans – A Close Shave!'4BR

Document trip

Dave plans to document his trip and upload photos and videos as his trip progresses so that his friends, family and fellow brass banders can follow his journey.
