On Friday 12th November, relatives and friends of Bert Cathro gathered at the Brechin branch of the Royal British Legion to honour Bert Cathro, who has recently retired from playing Eb Bass with Brechin City Band, after a career spanning almost 80 years.

Bert started his playing days in 1931 and it was only earlier this year, at the age of 92, that he regretfully decided that his playing days were over.

Bert still maintains a keen interest in the band and its future, and is delighted that a junior section has recently been started4BR
