The organisers of the Scottish Brass Band Festival in Perth on the weekend of the 20th/21st November have announced that the Saturday evening Gala Concert featuring current National Champions, Brighouse & Rastrick, will see the Yorkshire band preview their Brass in Concert programme.
Concert climax
The concert forms the climax to the Scottish Open contest day and will see Richard Evans lead the band through its Bras in Concert paces less than 24 hours before they perform in Gateshead.

30 years
Speaking on behalf of the band, their President, Paul Beaumont, commented: "It’s almost 30 years since 'B&R' appeared north of the border and we are sure that our many supporters there will take the chance to hear the world's most entertaining band as we present an exclusive preview of our programme for the Brass in Concert Championships at The Sage Gateshead the following day."
Rising star
The band will be joined by a rising star soloist of the tuba, 18-year-old Ross Knight from Carnoustie. Currently the Scottish Solo Champion, Ross was a member of the National Youth Brass Band and National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. He is now in his first year if study at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Results
The Gala evening will also include results ceremony for the Scottish Open and Challenge Shield competitions held earlier in the day.
