The 64th Annual Championships of the South West Brass Band Association will be held on Saturday 6th November at the Riviera International Conference Centre, Torquay.

Full day

A full day of contesting starts at 9.30am and continues through until mid evening.

The adjudicators are Dennis Wilby and Derek Greenwood and the Association reports a good entry of 33 bands competing in seven sections. Entries this year come from Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Dorset and South Wales.

There is encouraging news too as the contest will feature 1 youth band, 3 training bands and 2 ungraded band in their respective sections.

The Association is extremely proud that it’s member and guest bands continue to show such loyalty to a great eventSWBBA

Unique

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The Championships are unique in the brass band movement, as no monetary awards have ever been made to the winning bands, which dispels the cry from some quarters for more and bigger prize money.

The Association is extremely proud that it’s member and guest bands continue to show such loyalty to a great event."

More information

All-day tickets available cost £7 (with concessions) and further information is available from the Association's Secretary, Brian Elliott, telephone 01752 892056 or brian@swbba.fsnet.co.uk
